A senior over 60 years old who no longer has the necessary autonomy to live alone at home or who would like an alternative to institutional care can turn to accommodation in foster families.
This flexible and advantageous alternative meets the needs of elderly individuals and their families. The elderly person thus maintains the social ties woven with their neighborhood. Foster families are indeed located close to the elderly person’s former home. They allow the elderly to live in a family and secure environment.
The senior is washed, housed, and fed; the foster family accompanies them in their movements. The senior joyfully regains a family life! It’s reassuring and comforting.
The foster family receives in return a rent, reimbursements for expenses, and a salary. The amount starts from €1498/month. This cost is to be adjusted based on the comfort of the accommodation and the level of dependency of the person being cared for.
Accommodations can be temporary or permanent, part-time or full-time (day or night), in independent housing or in a private room.
The foster family that receives a senior in their home commits to participating in their daily life. The caregivers are approved, monitored, and trained by their Departmental Councils.
The accommodation contract is signed on the day of the arrival of the person being cared for at the latest.

To find your foster family for the elderly, it is advisable to first contact the departmental council or a local information center for the elderly, called CLIC.
