My proofreading progress
1
👀 First reading for meaning
Reread your entire dictation, slowly. Do all the sentences make sense? Did you miss any words?
💡 Tip: Read in a low voice, following along with your finger.
2
🔠 Capital letters
Make sure every sentence starts with a capital letter. Proper nouns (first names, cities, countries) too!
💡 Tip: Locate each dot, then check the letter that follows.
3
⏺️ Punctuation
Each sentence ends with a period (. ? !). Check commas in lists and dialogues.
💡 Tip: Count the number of sentences, then count the points.
4
🎯 Subject-verb agreements
For each verb, find its subject and check that they agree. Watch out for the "s" with tu and the "nt" with ils/elles!
💡 Tip: Underline the verbs, then ask the question "Who is who?"
5
👥 Agreement in the nominal group
The determiner, noun and adjective must agree in gender (masculine/feminine) and number (singular/plural).
💡 Tip: Circle plural nouns and check the "s" on adjectives.
6
🔄 Homophones
Check words that sound the same but are spelled differently: a/à, et/est, son/sont, on/ont, ce/se...
💡 Tip: Replace with another word to check (had → a, was → is)
7
📚 Learned and difficult words
Find the words you've learned in class (invariable words, words from the lesson). Check their spelling.
💡 Tip: If you doubt a word, circle it to check it in the dictionary.
