The AGGIR grid on tablet and smartphones
The AGGIR grid is an evaluation scale that allows assessing the level of autonomy or dependence of elderly people in performing daily tasks and activities of daily life. This is commonly referred to as the calculation of the GIR.
The AGGIR model (Gerontological Autonomy and Iso-Resource Groups) allows for a quick determination of the level of dependence and autonomy of an elderly person.
This allows for determining:
– The allowances granted by the State as well as
– The GIR categories, which determine the level of monitoring required for an elderly person both in EHPAD and at home.
This grid takes the form of a questionnaire, allowing for the evaluation and classification of individuals into 3 main categories:
- No loss of autonomy
- Partial loss of autonomy
- Severe loss of autonomy
and obtaining a GIR score, ranging from GIR 1 (total dependence) to GIR 6 (total autonomy).
Each answer you enter is briefly displayed on the screen to help you better understand the AGGIR test.
An explanation is provided to help you answer each question as best as possible.
The application is free and allows you to take as many AGGIR tests as you wish, and offers a detailed explanation of each result. The test result is immediately visible and is not stored to respect the confidentiality of your data.
The AGGIR grid also available on smartphone
You can also complete your AGGIR grids via your mobile phone:

Perform a simulation in just a few clicks
The application indeed allows you, if you wish, to perform a simple simulation.
This simulation will help you answer your questions about the autonomy of an elderly person. If you have a loved one in your circle, a person whose autonomy you doubt, it is indeed important to position yourself and quickly get an idea of this person’s quality of life.
Autonomy is vital to us, and every person needs it for hygiene, nutrition, as well as any movement involving essential purchases. It is important not to leave a person alone when in doubt about their autonomy: a domestic accident could easily happen and may prove serious in some cases.
The simulation calculating the GIR is quick, simple, and effective: thus you will know if the person you are thinking about needs support or the help of a healthcare professional to assist them in their daily tasks. The result of the simulation is only indicative, and you will likely need, after gathering information, the opinion of a professional.
Assistance to the person is strongly advised if your final result indicates dependence, even slight.
