Managing the Emotions of a Highly Sensitive Child

Rituals, regulation tools, daily support

👨‍👩‍👧 Target audience Parents, grandparents, family caregivers, and relatives of highly sensitive children who wish to understand this particular functioning and acquire concrete tools to support their child in daily life.

⏱️ Duration 1 to 2 hours of training divided into 5 progressive modules

💻 Format 100% online training, accessible from your computer or tablet. You progress at your own pace, whenever you wish, without time constraints.

What you will learn

This training allows you to understand what hypersensitivity really is: it is not a fragility, but a more intense functioning where everything is amplified, like a volume knob permanently set to 9 or 10. You will discover the three forms of hypersensitivity (emotional, sensory, relational) and learn to identify the characteristic signs in your child.

You will be able to identify the triggers of emotional storms using the 3-column tool, and implement concrete prevention strategies: prepared transitions, visual routines, calm corner. You will master simple and effective regulation techniques such as square breathing, the emotion thermometer, and anchoring techniques.

By the end of this training, you will be able to:

  • Understand hypersensitivity: a more intense functioning, not a fragility or a whim
  • Distinguish the three forms of hypersensitivity: emotional, sensory, and relational
  • Identify the characteristic signs: easy tears, increasing irritability, explosive anger, need for solitude, fear of changes, marked empathy
  • Identify the triggers of emotional storms: noise, hunger, fatigue, transitions, unforeseen events, frustrations
  • Use the 3-column tool: trigger, reaction, unmet need
  • Prepare transitions: visual timer, nursery rhyme, 3-step announcement
  • Establish visual routines: schedule with pictograms, illustrated checklist, “pause joker” card
  • Create a calm corner: a refuge to recharge, not a punishment corner
  • Practice square breathing: 4 seconds inhale, hold, exhale, hold
  • Use the emotion thermometer: green (calm), yellow (tense), orange (rising), red (explosion)
  • Apply anchoring techniques: the 5 senses, the butterfly, the stress ball
  • Master the STOP – NAME – OFFER script: stop, secure, name the emotion, breathe, offer a choice, wait
  • Implement the evening ritual: the 3 questions (storm, pride, need)
  • Teach the child to express their needs: key phrases and “I need…” cards
  • Effectively value: descriptive and measured appreciation, not excessive
  • Coordinate with the school: share triggers, tools, and warning signs

You will leave with concrete tools: breathing techniques, emotion thermometer, evening rituals, and prevention strategies applicable starting tonight.

Bonus: Discovery of the COCO PENSE & COCO BOUGE app, with its sports breaks every 15 minutes to help the child release tension and refocus.
