The goal of this article is not to give you isolated tips, but to present the journey as a whole: its four modules, its sixteen lessons, its format, its price, its validation. Are you accompanying a partner with Parkinson's disease who moves all night, a parent who confuses day and night due to dementia, a loved one who is constantly tired after a Stroke? Then this training has been designed for people like you: families and caregivers, without medical training, who want to understand what happens at night and regain concrete references.

“Sleep and neurological disease: helping your loved one sleep better” is an online training with 4 modules and 16 lessons, designed by DYNSEO for families and caregivers of a person with a neurological disease (Alzheimer's disease and dementias, Parkinson's, Stroke, multiple sclerosis). It costs 20 €, is self-paced, 100% online, and ends with a certificate of completion.
- For whom — spouse, child, brother or sister, close friend who accompanies at night as well as during the day. No medical prerequisites.
- What you will learn — understand why the disease disrupts sleep, establish routines adapted to each pathology, secure the night, manage nighttime agitation, and protect your own rest.
- Duration — about 2 hours in total, in short lessons to be divided.
- Access — immediate after registration, unlimited, on computer, tablet, or phone.
- Organization — DYNSEO, training organization certified Qualiopi (No. 11757351875), certificate of completion issued.
Why train when accompanying at night?
Sleep is one of the first areas affected by neurological diseases, and one of the most difficult to experience for those around. The structures of the brain that regulate falling asleep, the day-night rhythm, and the depth of sleep are directly concerned by these pathologies. The National Institute of Sleep and Vigilance (INSV) reminds us that sleep disorders are common and often underestimated in neurodegenerative diseases, while they weigh heavily on the quality of life of both the patient and their caregiver.
Each disease distorts the night in its own way. In Alzheimer's disease and other dementias, it is often the inversion of the rhythm: the person dozes during the day and becomes active in the evening, sometimes with an end-of-day agitation that caregivers call the “twilight syndrome.” In Parkinson's disease, there are fragmented nights, involuntary movements, difficulties turning in bed, and sometimes very agitated dreams. After a Stroke or in multiple sclerosis, there is massive fatigue associated with fragmented sleep that does not rest.
For the caregiver, the consequence is concrete: one sleeps poorly, one stays alert with one ear, one gets up several times, and ends up exhausted. However, an exhausted caregiver provides less effective support, and their own health deteriorates. This is exactly the space that this training fills. It does not replace the neurologist or the sleep doctor: it gives you the common language to understand them, and the everyday references that no one has time to explain to you in consultation.
| Illness | Frequent sleep disorder | What the caregiver feels |
|---|---|---|
| Alzheimer's disease and dementias | Day-night reversal, nighttime wandering, end-of-day agitation | Interrupted nights, concern for safety |
| Parkinson's disease | Restless nights, multiple awakenings, difficulty moving in bed | Light sleep, awakenings at every movement of the loved one |
| Stroke | Intense fatigue, fragmented sleep, daytime drowsiness | Difficulty distinguishing "normal" fatigue from warning signs |
| Multiple sclerosis | Chronic fatigue, non-restorative sleep, nighttime discomfort | Shared exhaustion, feeling of helplessness |
Qualitative benchmarks; for any diagnosis and for sleep management, consult your primary care physician, neurologist, or a sleep center.
A sudden change in nighttime behavior — sudden confusion, fall, difficulty breathing, loss of consciousness, signs suggesting a new stroke (drooping face, arm that no longer lifts, distorted speech) — constitutes an emergency. One should then immediately contact the emergency services in their country, without delay. This training helps to better support daily life; it never replaces a call for help in case of serious signs.
Who is this training for?
It is primarily aimed at families and caregivers, and this is a deliberate choice: the vocabulary, examples, and advice are designed for people who are not caregivers but who live closely with the illness. Three profiles particularly fit this description.
The spouse
They share the room, wake up at every movement, manage evening agitation, and bear the accumulated fatigue. They need to understand what comes from the illness and what can improve.
The adult child
Often at a distance, they worry about the difficult nights reported over the phone and seek reliable benchmarks to help their parents better organize bedtime and take a break.
The close circle
Brother, sister, friend, neighbor who takes over a few nights. They want to help without making mistakes and know how to react to wandering or nighttime confusion.

The program of the sleep and neurological disease training
The training consists of 4 modules and 16 lessons, short and concrete: we progress lesson by lesson, with time to apply an idea before moving on to the next. Here is the actual content, as structured on the platform, described block by block.
Why Neurological Diseases Disrupt Sleep
- The Sick Brain and Sleep — how the disease affects the areas that regulate falling asleep and the day-night rhythm, to understand what happens at night.
- Alzheimer's Disease and Dementias — the Day-Night Reversal — why the person dozes during the day and becomes active in the evening, and what the evening agitation entails.
- Parkinson's Disease — Restless Nights — involuntary movements, difficulties turning over, multiple awakenings: decoding the nights of a person with Parkinson's.
- Stroke and MS — Fatigue and Fragmented Sleep — understanding massive fatigue and non-restorative sleep after a stroke or with multiple sclerosis.
This first block lays the foundations. You will not find immediately applicable advice here, but something more important for lasting endurance: understanding. Knowing that the day-night reversal comes from the disease, and not from a whim, changes how one reacts at 3 a.m.
Practical Strategies According to the Pathology
- Create a Therapeutic Bedtime Routine — build a series of regular cues that prepare the body and mind for sleep.
- Light and Activity as Regulators — use daylight and daytime activity to help reset the internal clock.
- Secure the Night at Home — identify risks in the bedroom and the path to the bathroom, and make simple adjustments to prevent falls.
- Medications and Sleep in Neurological Diseases — understand the influence of certain treatments on sleep, what to observe and report to the doctor.
This is the practical core of the course. It transitions from mechanisms to actions. The lesson on medications, in particular, is treated with caution: it is never about modifying a treatment on your own, but knowing what to observe and what to report, so that the consultation is more useful.
When Nights Are Very Difficult
- Manage Severe Nighttime Agitation — how to react to wandering, confusion, or opposition, while keeping calm and ensuring everyone's safety.
- Protect Your Own Sleep — organize your nights to avoid collapsing, alternating, and recovering when possible.
- Professional Solutions for Nights at Home — existing support (night care, assistance services) and when to call on them.
- Monitor Progress and Adapt Strategies — observe what works, take notes, adjust over time without questioning everything.
This module acknowledges a reality that many keep silent about: some nights are unmanageable, and there is no shame in asking for help. It provides guidance for navigating the toughest episodes without putting oneself in danger, and for recognizing when external support becomes necessary.

Manage Crises
React calmly to agitation or nighttime wandering, ensuring the safety of your loved one and yourself.
Observe and Report
Note what happens at night and provide useful observations to the doctor for more effective consultations.
Preserve Yourself
Identify your own signs of exhaustion, organize support, and protect your sleep to sustain over time.
Qualiopi and Certification: What It Changes for You
DYNSEO is a Qualiopi certified training organization, registered under the activity declaration number 11757351875. This certification focuses on the quality of the training process: clarity of objectives, adaptation to audiences, qualification of trainers, collection of feedback, and continuous improvement.
Specifically, for a family: this means that the content is not improvised, it is reviewed, and the educational objectives are defined before being produced. At the end of the course, you receive a certificate of completion in your name. It certifies your participation — it is neither a state diploma nor a regulated professional qualification, and it is important to state this clearly.
